THE AUTO INDUSTRY IN TEXAS

Arlington Assembly, a General Motors Company plant, has been in production since 1954. The plant currently produces the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing is located in San Antonio. The plant manufactures the Tundra full-size pickup and the Tacoma mid-size pickup truck. The plant was built in 2003 and employs about 1,700 people. This plant is Toyota’s newest assembly plant and is currently a $1.5 billion investment.

The Toyota plant in Texas is currently the only one manufacturing the Tundra, since the Toyota plant in Indiana has closed.
